Plumbing Battles

Our house is not meant to stay forever. There always things to fix and maintain. If it you live in a home long enough and you’ll eventually have to deal with, busted lights, electrical failures, clogged sinks, dripping faucets, plugged-up toilets and leaky pipe. These are common problems that cannot be avoided. Plumbing problems happens all the time. You yourself can fix these problems. You can fix your dripping faucets and leaky pipes in no time, just before a professional plumber is at door step.

Just like going to a battle you need your gear when battling your plumbing problems. You don’t go to battle without guns.  Like an army with armory. But being a plumber inside you house don’t need a full battle gear in repairing your pipes. You just need a few tools that is need in fixing your pipes. All you need are the basic tools in plumbing then you can add more tools as needed to your repair. Most of the tools you need to maintain your home’s Wellington Point plumber system are relatively affordable.  If you don’t have any idea about plumbing tools beside, screwdriver, hammers, utility knife and safety goggles here are some tools might help you in your battle against plumbing repairs.

  • Tongue-and- Groove Pliers. This is commonly known as Channellocks by its brand name, these are pliers that plumbers use to reach and grab, pull, twist and hold, tighten or loosen something.
  • Propane Torch. This is use to sweat copper pipe and fittings. Sometimes there are torches with self igniting torch head that lights when you squeeze the trigger. Propane torch is much convenient than using a striker or matches.
  • Hacksaw. This saw is use to cut through metal pipe, screw and bolts, hardware and plastic pipe.
  • Metal File. After cutting metal pipes metal file is use to removes burrs and smoothens its edges. You can use a half round file which has both rounded and flat surfaces, and a rat tail file which is round and tapered.
  • Pipe Wrench. These heavy and large wrenches are use to tighten and loosen threaded pipes, fittings and nuts. The serrated teeth helps the wrench holds its grip, wrap the wrench’s jaw with a cloth to prevent damage from the fixtures finish. You need two pipe wrenches one is for turning and the other one is for gripping and holding.
  • Hand Auger. A plumber’s snake is what others called it. It is a hand cranked drain clearing tool that has a 25ft long flexible steel cable that’s effectively clears obstacles from tubs, shower, sinks, toilets and drain lines.
  • Adjustable Wrench. This versatile tool is use in parts that have a hex-shaped and nuts lik, compression fittings, supply lines, and other plumbing parts.
  • Tubing Cutter. It looks like a C-clamp and it is use to cut copper and metal pipes. It is the quickest and the cleanest way to cut pipes.

Now if you have these tools, your are now equip and ready for battle against clogged pipes and dripping faucets.
